Jarrod Boyle is a fully qualified personal trainer, holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne , a postgraduate degree from the Victorian College of the Arts. He is currently a member of the editorial staff at International Kickboxer Magazine. His fighting show reel can be viewed on the internet at www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J5jHJru4OM

Jarrod has extensive experience in professional sports which feeds both his knowledge and approach to personal training. Jarrod has represented Australia in Kyokushin (full contact) karate, as well as having competed in both Amateur Boxing and Kickboxing. He was crowned Victorian Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion in 2007 and became a European professional in 2008. He joined the ‘Golden Glory’ kickboxing team, training under the auspices of legendary fighter Ramon Dekkers in Breda, Holland. He retired from fighting in 2009 in order to concentrate full-time on his personal training business.

Jarrod believes that kickboxing is the ultimate base for personal  training as it develops fitness in a holistic sense. There is a high degree of cardio-vascular work as well as muscular, flexibility, co-ordination and core strength conditioning. It also provides a strategic and technical focus, which is the best antidote to the kind of boredom that interferes with people’s ability to stick with their training. Kickboxing doesn’t simply allow you to get fit, lose weight and tone up, it also gives you a demonstrable skill. You will leave the gym with an actual product as well as looking and feeling dangerous!

"Why Should I Do Personal 1 on 1 Training?" OR "Is 1 on 1 personal Training worth it?"

If you have made it to my web site, you are most likely looking for a health & fitness club or a personal trainer. Over time I have been asked the following 3 questions often by prospective new personal training clients.

Why should I do personal training?

Can't I work myself hard enough?

What can I get from personal training, that I can't do on my own?

I thought it best to ask the experts my clients the answers to these questions, who some have been with me for over 19 years. The following are  the 10 top answers they gave me!

You give me an objective eye." This came from a client who has spent some time educating himself a bit. He had already achieved a better than average level of fitness and had kept many personal fitness records, but he wanted to get to the next level. He needed the outside perspective. He understands that even the best need a coach. Tiger Woods has a coach. Michael Jordan had a coach. We all need a coach to remind us to live up to our potential.

"You make me work out when I don't want to." Oh well I am told all the time that there she is standing over her clients with a whip? What she really meant was that by hiring me, she was more compliant to her exercise and eating programs. Keeping regular training appointments kept her on track. one very important point, consistency is the key to making lifestyle adjustments like regular exercise.

"You make me accountable for doing my best." This came from a client that I don't see every week and has been at it a long time. She also knows that if she doesn't keep up with our predetermined program, I'll know it. She takes exceptional pride in accepting the challenges I set for her and achieving her goals. She also mentioned that if she knew I wasn't going to be there at our assigned date and time, she'd be on the couch eating ice-cream, chocolate and drinking Coke.

"I feel totally safe to push myself as hard as I need to." I really liked hearing this response. I'm very protective of my clients and take great pride in teaching proper exercise mechanics and my injury rate sits at a comfortable nil. There is nothing more frustrating than to hear of someone getting injured while trying to improve their aesthetic appeal and their health.

"You motivate me." This came from one of my athletes. We get along great because I tend to look at things from an athletic perspective. I know what he's going through and I know when to "push his buttons" and how to get the the very best performance and development out of him.

"I learned & got faster." This lady was incredibly,  she would do her homework and did everything I asked when it come to her personal health issues. She says that she could have gotten to where she is now, but thanks to me, she got there faster and more efficiently than she ever expected.

"Knowledge is what we gain from our experiences"

"Wisdom is what we gain from someone else's experiences."

It never struck me how powerful a message that is until I really started to pursue my own personal fitness goals. Fitness is like any other form of education. You can take the harder road and try to learn it all yourself, or you can take the easier road and seek out a teacher. Someone who's been there before.

I'm not saying you can't get to where you want to go without a personal trainer, cause every day, people achieve their fitness goals.

Unfortunately, in the reality of the world we live in most fail, not because they don't make a effort, but rather their efforts are misdirected by the bad information provided in the popular media.

I find it fascinating that in every aspect of our lives, the impact of one person can make a tremendous difference. That person is typically a leader, a teacher, a boss or a coach. The success of your personal health&fitness is no different, if you have tried and failed more than twice at the same task, you need to get some help and guidance.
